RECTOR:
Rev. Tom Eckert, C.S.C. |
|
Fr. Tom eagerly returns to the ranks of Rector in Notre Dame’s newest residence hall, Duncan. He previously served for three years as Rector of St. Edward’s Hall, and concurrently served as Director of Latino Student Ministry in Campus Ministry and Associate Director of the Office of Vocations for the Congregation of Holy Cross. He left these positions to pursue full-time studies and this spring completed his Masters degree in Iberian and Latin American Literatures at the University of Notre Dame. During his senior year at Notre Dame, Fr. Tom served as Resident Assistant in Stanford Hall, while maintaining his active involvement in Campus Ministry and the Center for Social Concerns. He received a Bachelors degree in both Spanish and Economics from the University of Notre Dame in 1995. As an undergraduate, he spent one year studying in Mexico City which served him well during his two years teaching as a seminarian in Holy Cross schools in Lima, Peru and Santiago, Chile. Fr. Tom entered Moreau Seminary in the fall of 1995 and received his Master of Divinity degree from Notre Dame in 2002. He then served his deacon year at St. John Vianney Parish in Goodyear, AZ and after being ordained a Holy Cross priest in April of 2003 began his ministry in residence life at Notre Dame. Fr. Tom is a native Hoosier, having been born and raised in Huntington, Indiana, and is no stranger to the dynamics of a large family atmosphere, as he is the youngest of 14 children. |
