Badin Hall
HALL HISTORY
Originally constructed in 1897 as St. Joseph's Industrial School; after expansion project, became a men's residence hall in 1917 (and renamed Badin Hall in honor of Rev. Stephen Badin, first Catholic priest ordained in the USA and provider of the land where the original Log Cabin was built); Originally housed 142 men at the time; In 1972, Badin converted into a women's residence hall when Notre Dame became co-ed in 1972; One of two of the first halls to house women in 1972; Only hall with a balcony; First floor currently houses the ACE program and the Office for Students with Disabilities; Past first floor offices/services have also included: Campus Ministry, bookstore, barbershop, and cafeteria; Past residents include Angelo Bertelli '44 (Heisman Trophy winner), Alan Page '67 (MN Supreme Court Justice), Fr. Hesburgh (in the 1940's), and Fr. Malloy when he was an undergrad in the 1960's; Currently the smallest women's residence hall on campus.
ROOM INFORMATION
Badin has the highest percentage of single rooms in any residence hall (60%). The hall also has double rooms (20%) and 4-person suites (20%). There are no private bathrooms in Badin Hall.

RECTOR: SR. DENISE LYON, IHM
  Sr. Denise Lyon has spent the last two years at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Spiritual Renewal Center, where she served as a member of the core planning team, was Director of Spiritual Formation for a local parish, and presented spiritual workshops to retreat-goers. Most of Sr. Denise’s professional experience has been in Catholic education, where she worked as a teacher for 30 years before going on to pursue graduate degrees in Pastoral Care and Counseling (from Neumann College in Aston, PA, in 2004) as well as Spirituality and Monastic Studies (from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN, in 2005). She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and Secondary Education from Immaculata University in Immaculata, PA.
