Community Engagement
When students study abroad they are encouraged to immerse themselves into the community where they are living. This immersion can take place through recreational activities, volunteerism, spiritual and cultural activities, or a mentor-guided activity such as a community-based course or internship. Below are some of the mentor-guided activities at some of our sites.
Dublin

| F'10, SP'11, F'11, SP'12 | CBL course- volunteer at "Fighting Words Creative Writing Center" conducting writing workshops for school groups from the Dublin area, espeically the disadvantaged schools in the nearby neighborhood. Modeled on similar organization in Berkeley, CA called: 826 Valencia. Several other associated centers throughout the States have since formed, including one in Chicago |

Toledo

| FA09 SP10 | ÁREA DE TRABAJO SOCIAL: numerous social service possibilities are available to the Toledo student. |
| FA09 SP10 | ÁREA DE SALUD (HOSPITALES): the national paraplegic hospital and the Spanish Red Cross facilities are available to interns. |
