
Location
Trinity College Dublin (TCD): Trinity College Dublin, which celebrated
its Quatercentenary in 1992, is located in the heart of the capital of
the Republic of Ireland. The campus extends over 40 acres and includes
five quadrangles or squares with many buildings from the eighteenth century,
notably the Old Library (1712), which houses the richly illustrated medieval
Book of Kells, and the Chapel (1788) and Dining Hall (1761). One week
of the program will take place at Queen’s University in Belfast,
which allows students to explore the North in depth.
Program of Study
The seven-week program
starts approximately June 19, 2008 and ends August 7, 2008. The program offers 6 mini-courses, worth 1.5 credits each.
Students will enroll in 4 of the 6 courses, through the University of
Notre Dame Summer Session. In Summer 2007, students chose from the following: ENGL 44520: Irish Fiction and Poetry; FTT 24009: Irish Drama, 19th C to Present;
HIST 34432: Post-Famine Irish History; ANTH 34301: Gaelic Culture;
ARHI 24524: Irish Visual Culture; and SOC 34124: Critical Issues in
Contemporary Ireland. Click here for

Eligibility
for the Program
Full time status in good standing at the University of Notre Dame. Students will need to complete two applications for this program. First, students should complete the online application. Additionally, the applicants will need to complete the brief Irish Studies Summer School application. These paper applications should be submitted to the Office of International Studies, 152 Hurley Building, by the deadline of March 1, and will be submitted as a group to the Irish Studies Summer School.
