Religious
Life
Catholicism is an
important part of Mexican life. Students will find ample opportunity to
attend Mass in parishes throughout the city of Monterrey. Holy Cross priests
staff one of these local parishes.
Transportation
and Travel
Roundtrip airfare
from a major airport near your hometown will be covered by program costs.
Monterrey students may participate in a field trip organized for the Puebla program, and they may participate in a field trip offered by the International Office at the Tec paid for by Notre Dame.
Housing and Meals
Most students choose
to live in campus dorms; a homestay with a family selected by the International Programs Office at the Tec may also be possible. There are several cafeterias and
snack bars on campus, plus a variety of restaurants catering
to student budgets within walking distance of the campus.
Cultural and Recreational
Opportunities
The Tec
in Monterrey is a lively campus, with many student organizations as well
as a busy cultural calendar. Notre Dame students are encouraged to participate
in campus life, which provides an important avenue for cross-cultural
interaction. Sports facilities are up-to-date and accessible. Students
should also take advantage of the recreational facilities in nearby parks
to go hiking, swimming and horseback riding
Health
Care
A 24-hour infirmary
is available on campus for emergencies and the best-equipped hospitals
in northeastern Mexico are located in Monterrey. OIS provides health insurance through HTH Worlwide for all students participating in its programs.
