Women's soccer deserving of a little more support
Letter to the Editor

We were very disappointed with The Observer's coverage of the Notre Dame women's soccer team's final game. Our ladies played well all season long and ended with a very close game, a fact that was not recognized by the hypercritical articles.

In particular, the "report card" for the game seemed very inappropriate. Whereas in regard to football games the report card has meaning as we watch our team progress through the season, the negative comments were unnecessary following the women's defeat that ended their season.

Likewise, Mike Connolly's article entitled "It's a Carolina World" seemed to glorify the North Carolina team while at the same time denying credit to our team to the point of insult.

To see this obvious lack of support from the student newspaper is embarrassing. We personally would like to congratulate the women's soccer team on an outstanding season.
