Ordained Baptist minister, best selling author and scholar Michael Eric Dyson will speak at the Hesburgh Library Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.. Dyson will be the keynote speaker as part of Office of Multicultural Student Affair's continuing lecture and fine art series titled "Leadership in Diversity: Recognizing Our Role Models."
"I saw him at a conference a year and a half ago, and he is the most dynamic, articulate and motivational speaker I have ever seen," said Kevin Huie, OMSA's assistant director. "I don't think many students know about him, and I know students will get a lot out of what he has to say."
Dyson has taught at Brown University and Columbia, and is currently a "first professor at DePaul," said Huie. "He grew up in inner city Detroit and had what can be considered an atypical experience getting to college."
The author of "Race Rules: Navigating the Color Lines" and "Between God and Gangsta Rap: Bearing Witness to Black Culture," Dyson will also hold a book signing.
