(1) Hello and welcome to the first edition of the IEEE Nanotechnology News.
The formation of the new IEEE Nanotechnology Council affords all of us in
the international nanotechnology community an opportunity to share news and
information. This newsletter is designed to help the reader keep up with
recent technology developments (through synopses of interesting journal
publications), upcoming conferences, information of interest pertaining to
members of the community, career opportunities, including faculty,
technician, postdocs and graduate student openings, and free classified ads.
The format is designed to cause the least amount of "email grief." Only
the
minimum necessary information will be presented in the email. Readers can
link to topics of interest after only a quick survey of the contents.
You, the readers, will be the main contributors. As of this edition, I
would like to solicit your inputs to any of the categories. Help us fill in
the gaps. Let us know what papers you find interesting by providing a one
or two paragraph synopsis of the major points; notify us of upcoming
conferences including abstract and paper deadlines; let us know of
information pertaining to your career moves or advancements; submit
notification of job openings at your institutions; advertise equipment
wanted, for sale or exchange. This is your newsletter. You may email
ntcnews@nd.edu any time with your comments or suggestions. We want to hear
from you.
We anticipate distributing the newsletter on the 15th of the
odd-numbered months. Please send us your submissions (ntcnews@nd.edu)
by May 1, 2003 for the next edition.
Thank you for your attention. As always, there is a risk of further
cluttering your in-box with unsolicited mail. If you do not want to
subscribe, please just put "remove" in the heading and email to
ntcnews@nd.edu, and we will take you off. On the other hand,
we would be pleased if you would forward this newsletter to your colleagues.
Carol Osmer, the Nanotechnology News administrator, and I look forward to
providing you with a quality newsletter of real value.
Sincerely,
Gary H. Bernstein
