Submitting Contributions

(Note: Submissions can only be made by members of the lab whose userids are in the pts group nsl:labmembers) If you would like to submit your contribution to "nsl_docs", just complete the following steps
  1. Find a suitable subdirectory - look through the current directory tree of "nsl_".  You can do this on the web by clicking on the link above, or type "cd ~nsl/www/nsl_docs".
  2. There are currently five major directories for you to put your information:
  3.     General_Lab
        Making_Beam
        Taking_Data
        Target_Areas
        Computing

There may be a subdirectory under one of these suitable for your info.
If you don't find an appropriate subdirectory, you can make one.
You may NOT make a new major directory. See the NSL's webadmin for this.

  4. Compile your information into a text (.txt) or HTML (.html) file with an appropriate name .

  5. Warning: '.txt' files must have "hard returns" at the end of each line.

  6. Copy your file into the target directory.

  7. Check that your file does not have the same name as an existing file.

  8. Place image files (.ps, .eps, .jpg, .gif, etc.) into the Images directory.

  9.
  10. Place original documents into the Original_Documents directory so we have a chance of finding

  11. them 5 years from now when you're gone. This would be docs in their original form, such as Word,
LaTeX, etc. To get to this directory type "cd ~nsl/www/nsl_docs/Original_Documents".
  12. Make your contribution known by sending a short note to the NSL listserver (NSL "at" listserv.nd.edu)*.

  13. Include a 1-2 sentence summary of the file, along with the subdirectory where it can be found.
Also include pertinent keywords - these keywords will show up in a search of the listserver.
    * Note: the "at" in the listserv address should be replaced with @. It is shown this way to prevent automated web
"crawlers" from finding the address. We don't want spam coming to the listserv!!
