GEORGINA (GE detector Online aRray for Gamma ray spectroscopy in Nuclear Astrophysics) is a compact Ge detector array specially designed to measure g-transitions of approximately 10 MeV and multiplicity less than 5. Designed to fit closely around a standard beamline, the five large n-type HPGe detectors (rel. efficiency of ~100% each) will cover a solid angle of nearly 2Π(see image below). GEORGINA can be used as a stand-alone device or in conjunction with additional gamma or particle detectors. For example, when combined with one of the NSL's HPGe Clover detectors, the system will cover nearly the full solid angle. The detectors are currently under construction and are scheduled for delivery in Fall of 2010. A dedicated 16 channel MPA-3 DAQ system has been constructed and tested.
