This is the second circular for CGS-12, the 12th international Conference on Capture Gamma-Ray Spectroscopy and Related Topics, to be held from September 4-9, 2005 at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana (USA). The University of Notre Dame, founded in 1842 by a priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross, is an independent, national Catholic university located in a rather picturesque part of Indiana adjacent to the city of South Bend and approximately 90 miles southeast of Chicago.

The conference theme includes current topics in Nuclear Structure, Nuclear Symmetries, Nuclear Reactions with stable as well as radioactive ion beams, Nuclear Astrophysics, Tools of Nuclear Science from instrumentation to facilities, as well as Applications of Nuclear Science from AMS to nuclear energy. The last meeting of the series, CGS-11, was held in Pruhonice near Prague in the Czech Republic in 2002.

The venue for the conference is the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Notre Dame. Lodging and registration can be made through the conference website http://www.nd.edu/~nsl/cgs12.
All of the participants will be housed on the campus of the University of Notre Dame at the Morris INN. The conference site is just across the street within a three minute walk.

The registration fee includes the welcoming reception, lunches every day, (breakfast is included with the hotel), the Monday evening cookout, the banquet in Chicago, the concert on Friday evening, a copy of the proceedings, and the receptions for coffee breaks and the poster session.

The sessions of the conference will begin on Monday morning (Sept. 5) and end by the end of day on Friday evening (Sept. 9). There will be a welcoming reception in the evening of Sunday Sept. 4, the conference banquet will take place on Wednesday Sept. 7 aboard a ship and will include an architectural tour of the city of Chicago from the Chicago River. Friday evening, there will be a performance of music, poetry and stories by the Ensemble Galilei with projected images from the Hubble Space Telescope.

The format includes invited talks for plenary sessions at 30 minutes, contributed talks at 15 minutes, and poster contributions. The invited talks and oral contributions will be presented at the plenary sessions. Many of the oral contributions will be selected by the Program Committee from the list of submitted abstracts shortly after the deadline of June 1, 2005 for the receipt of abstracts.

The abstracts of all the contributions accepted for presentation at the meeting will be collected in a volume and distributed to each participant at registration. All participants are asked to electronically submit a one-page abstract to cgs12@nd.edu.

The proceedings of the conference will be published by AIP. Detailed instructions for authors as well as templates in latex or MS Word are available online at http://proceedings.aip.org. The manuscripts will be collected at the beginning of the conference during registration on September 4, 2005. Invited talks will have up to 8 pages, oral contributions will have up to 5 pages, and poster presentations will have 2 pages.
