Battalion Information

The Notre Dame Navy Battalion consists of approximately 150 Midshipmen attending the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary's College. The majority of the battalion is provided with a four year or a three year scholarship which covers tuition, books and fees. The scholarship obligates Midshipmen for a minimum of four years of service after college as an officer in the Navy or Marine Corp.

Navy Midshipmen are typically required to take one Naval Science class every semester taught by Navy ROTC instructors. Midshipmen also have additional Navy curriculum requirements for graduation which easily integrates with the University's curriculum requirements. On a weekly basis midshipmen PT and Drill together. Bi-annual PT tests hold midshipmen to the physical standards of the Navy. Inspections insure that the midshipmen wear their uniforms appropriately and have a thorough grasp of the required knowledge. Midshipmen also hold leadership positions within the Battalion staffing the various departments such as MWR, Athletics, PAO, etc..
