Special Topics: Physics Review I

9:00-12:00 MTWHF 6-7-10 to 7-2-10

This course is offered for physics graduate students to help them develop mastery of material that is tested on the Physics Qualifying Examination. This exam tests fundamental physics knowledge. The material of Part I of the exam, on mechanics, fluids, special relativity, and thermodynamics, is covered in this course. In addition to review of these topics, students also learn to present problems at the blackboard. Students take the Part I Qualifying Examination at the end of the course.

Special Topics: Physics Review II

9:00-12:00 MTWHF 7-5-10 to 7-30-10

This course is offered for physics graduate students to help them develop mastery of material that is tested on the Physics Qualifying Examination. This exam tests fundamental physics knowledge. The material of Part II of the exam, on electricity and magnetism, optics, and modern physics, is covered in this course. In addition to review of these topics, students also learn to present problems at the blackboard. Students take the Part II Qualifying Examination at the end of the course.
