The Notre Dame Web Group is an interdisciplinary group of Notre Dame scientists, engineers, social scientists, and business and humanities faculty who meet regularly to explore new directions in electronic technology and the impact of the Internet and the World Wide Web on society, economics, politics, and culture.
Since the group began in fall 2000, its readings and discussions have focused
on such varied topics as the law and the Internet; the protection of international
and national privacy, the science of networks, and the impact of the Web on society
and the economy. The group meets monthly, usually over a meal.
Through meetings and active list serv exchanges, group members benefit from an ongoing dialogue about recent scientific and technological advancements, the availability of new resources for technology use in the classroom, and new ways of researching the social and cultural significance of the Internet.
Membership in the Web Group is open to all Notre Dame faculty and staff. Those
interested in participating should contact David Hachen. The Web Group is a Faculty
Learning Community that has been funded by a Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary
Education (FIPSE) Grant as is currently funded by the Provost's Office and the
Kaneb Center for Teaching & Learning.
