TRANSCRIPT REQUEST
There is NO FEE for transcripts
unless you request special delivery.
Current Students: Login to insideND
and use the "Transcript Request" link to order your transcript. Your
authentication into insideND is the required "signature" for
your transcript order. You can also track your order at "Transcript
Request - View Status".
If you have a form that needs to be attached to your transcript, please bring it to the Office of the Registrar, where you can order your transcript through insideND on the office computers.
If you enter your campus address, you must
come to the Office of the Registrar to pick-up your transcript(s).
Former Students: All transcript requests must be made in writing
and contain your signature. You may complete the Transcript
Request Form on-line, print it, and either fax or mail it to the
Office of the Registrar. You may also send a letter (instead of the
form) to the address or fax number below:
Office of the Registrar
Transcript Clerk
105 Main Building
University of Notre Dame
Notre Dame, IN 46556
FAX: 574-631-5872
The request should include your full name, date of birth, dates of attendance,
address of person, school or company where transcript is to be sent,
your return address, and your signature. A transcript cannot
be ordered by telephone or e-mail. However, you may send the request
by FAX. There is no fee for transcripts. Requests for transcripts will
not be honored if you are financially indebted to the University.
TRANSCRIPT INFORMATION
Federal Express - There is no transcript fee, but there is a
fee which Federal Express charges. The charge for using Federal Express
varies by ZIP code and is payable by providing your credit card number
and expiration date. P.O. Box addresses will
NOT be accepted by Federal Express.
Mail your transcript - Transcripts are normally mailed directly
to the person, school, or company you indicated. Please fill in the
appropriate mailing address.
Pick up your transcript - Transcripts may also be picked up by
the student in the Office of the Registrar 1 to 2 working days after
receipt of the request.
Faxing your transcript - If you are requesting your Transcript
to be faxed, fill in the "Fax#" and the "ATTN" line
(for former students, current students follow the directions on insideND).
All transcripts that are faxed (unofficial) must be followed up with
an official mailed copy. Hence, please also fill in the address information.
If a mailing address for the official transcript is not provided, we
will send it to your current mailing address. Please note that transcripts
are printed on security paper and faxing the copy will cause the words
"ILLEGAL COPY" to appear over the face of the entire document. We will
attempt to fax your request two times. If the second attempt fails,
it will only be mailed.
Social Security Number/Date of Birth - Your Social Security Number
and Date of Birth are considered private. If available, they are listed
on your transcript as follows:
Student Number: XXX-XX-0123
Date of Birth: 01-01-XXXX
At the end of the semester, orders may take up to 5 business days, due
to the volume of requests normally received.
The University issues academic transcripts only for academic work
completed at Notre Dame. Requests for transcripts of courses taken
at other institutions must be directed to those institutions.
In general, evaluative information such as courses completed, grades
earned, etc. cannot be issued to an outside party unless the student
has given the Registrar written permission to release specific information
to that party. The Registrar may, however, disclose "directory
information" as allowed under The Family Education Rights & Privacy
Act (FERPA). A list of the directory information can be found at The
Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act web page.
Effective March 1, 2000 the University of Notre Dame discontinued
embossing the University seal on its transcripts. This procedure has
been replaced by using transcript paper with the preprinted light
blue University seal overlaid by the University Registrar's signature
in white. Effective October 2005 the Office of the Registrar no longer
lists the complete Social Security number or year of birth on a transcript.
