Although the Irish Racing Team is an official program of the University of Notre Dame, it is not entirely financed by the University. Thus, the funding for the project must come form outside contributions in the form of sponsorships, individual donat ions, and needed products. As one might imagine the expenses for a project such as the Irish Racing Team are quite substantial. There are equipment costs, entry fees, transportation charges, and hundreds of other expenses including modest assistance for students spending their summer on campus working on the project.
The Benefit of Sponsorship
To further its efforts, the team needs help from companies and individuals that are interested in promoting this technology development program. In addition to financial contributions, technical assistance and equipment donations are greatly apprecia ted. By sponsoring the Irish Racing Team, not only are you supporting a valuable educational experience, but also the advancement of zero-emissions vehicle technology. Sponsors of the project will receive exposure at the official team events as well as several public appearances throughout the year. In addition to several conventions and seminars, the car is regularly shown in hospitality areas during Notre Dame football games and displayed at local Sports Car Club of America events. Furthermore, some Formula Lightning events are televised on ESPN's "Thursday Night Thunder" and Sports Channel to national audiences.
