Dear Notre Dame Review readers:
“One Fabulous Bird” arose from endless bewilderment at how culture begins with a swirl of smoke and hardens into chains which keep morphing into different, equally powerful chains. “Pimpernel” was a foray into the area between romance and Truth (that terrifying word).
Here are more examples of my work. “About Fish” (published in Witness) is completely autobiographical, and I still don’t eat fish. “Accomplished Dreamers” (published in the Madison Review) expresses a surmise that everything is so open and fluid that even our relationships with the dead go on developing and deepening. “That One,” a tribute to the revered poet, You-Know-Who, was published in Nimrod, having won Honorable Mention for the 2004 Pablo Neruda Prize.
I have poems coming in The Cincinnati Review and in Call and Response, an anthology edited by Kurt Brown. My book of poetry, Ashes, Jade, Mirrors, was published by Volcanic Ash in 2002. My poems have appeared in various literary reviews, including The Georgia Review, 88, The Green Mountains Review, The Greensboro Review, and The Paris Review.
