Committees
Regular Committees
They are to do various events and services throughout the year.
1. Events
Planning events for PSA or whole campus spreading knowledge of political science and government, potentially including professor round tables, debates, etc.
2. Faculty Relations
Help members get to know a wider collection of faculty and team up faculty and members for thesis advisors, research assistants, recommendation letters, etc. This could happen with small dinners, brown bag lunches, etc.
3. Career development
Help members acquire internships and jobs, potentially including meet and greets with recruiters, information sessions on finding internships, etc.
4. Fundraising
To raise money for PSA to do the activities they want. Also, to raise money for PSA to give money to a charity related to political science.
5. Service
Help campus and local community through events and programs, potentially including a mentor program for younger political science students, community service in the local community, etc.
Special Committees
They are just to concentrate on one event for the year.5. Commencement
This group is to concentrate just on planning and implementing the PSA reception for graduating seniors during commencement weekend. Its tasks include finding commencement speaker, planning reception, designing and mailing invitations, etc.
6. Mock Senate
To plan for high school students to participate in a Mock Senate at Notre Dame. Tasks include recruiting high school students, planning how to best teach student about U.S. policymaking, interacting with the students, etc.
7. Speaker
Identify, contact, and invite one notable political science speaker to come to campus. Tasks including picking speaker, persuading them to come to campus, picking topic, setting up event, etc.
Individual
These are roles within the club that a member can be to satisfy committee and hours requirement.
8. Web Designer
One or more people to revamp and redesign our website and update it regularly
9. Photographer
Document PSA activities by attending events and taking pictures
10. Beyond Politics
A member can join PSA sponsored undergraduate research journal, Beyond Politics, as an editor. This is subject to an application process.
