An
African-American man's move from California to Norway triggers
familial resentment in this novel of cultural displacement. As
lead character Pharoah Chisholm attempts to confront the racial
antagonism he left behind in Los Angeles, he also struggles to
express his personal identity in a homogenous society that represses
individuality.
The author received an MFA from Notre Dame in 1996.
