The best public restroom in America: Checkback In the Winter 2001-02 issue, Seen and Heard reported that the restroom in the Main Building was among 11 finalists in an online competition to identify American's best public restroom. The results are in, and ND's chief administrators apparently have the best seat in the house. The Main Building lavatory finished first in the 2001 America's Best Restroom Awards, sponsored by Sanis, a hygiene services brand. Although other nominated restrooms were more elaborate and spacious, the "style and grace" of the Main Building won out in the end, according to TheBestofUSA.com. Second place went to the Lazarus Oxmoor Center (Louisville, Kentucky). The Bon Marche Department Store in Seattle finished third. Notre Dame will receive a plaque commemorating its achievement. The University plans to display the plaque but isn't sure where. |
