NDLS Students
Notre Dame law students manage to find a comfortable balance between their studies and involvement in both Law School and University activities. In addition to the four law journals, student organizations at the Law School reflect and respond to the professional and personal interests of the student body. Through involvement in these extracurricular activities, students broaden their classroom learning experiences, exercise their leadership abilities and pursue special interests. Many of these associations and organizations sponsor speaker programs, social events, and service projects.

The list of active student groups varies from year to year according to the interests of the student body, but recently active groups include the following:

  • American Civil Liberties Union
  • American Constitutional Society
  • Asian Law Students Association
  • Black Law Students of Notre Dame
  • Business Law Forum
  • Christian Legal Society
  • Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty
  • Environmental Law Society
  • Federalist Society
  • Hispanic American Law Association
  • Intellectual Property Law Society
  • International Human Rights Society
  • International Law Society
  • Irish Law Society
  • Jewish Law Students Association
  • Married Law Students Association
  • Military Law Students Association
  • Public Interest Law Foundation
  • Right to Life (Jus Vitae)
  • Social Justice Forum
  • Sports and Entertainment Law Society
  • St. Thomas More Society
  • Women's Legal Forum

In addition to these organizations, the Student Bar Association serves as a governing board and liaison with the administration of the Law School. The SBA and other student organizations sponsor a host of social activities throughout the year including picnics, semi-formal dances, and an annual talent show; provide opportunities for athletic competition among law students through the Law School through basketball and golf tournaments; and organize outings to local and Chicago ballparks, amusement parks and nearby Lake Michigan.
