Applicants
for admission to the Juris Doctor program must possess
a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
prior to enrolling at the Law School. The Admissions Committee
does not require a particular major or undergraduate field
of study; however, prospective students are advised to
enroll in courses that develop and refine skills in the
areas of writing, critical reading, and logical reasoning.
All applicants for admission also must register for the
Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and subscribe to the
Law School Data Assembly Service.
- Applicants are encouraged
to take the LSAT in June, September/October or December
in the year prior to the desired date of entry. Doing this provides the benefit of receiving full consideration
for fellowship assistance.
- It is the policy of Notre
Dame to recognize LSAT scores up to five years old at
the point in time the applicant applies for admission.
- Additionally, it is the policy of the Law School to review
the highest LSAT score when an applicant has taken the
LSAT more than once within a five-year period.
- Registration
materials for the LSAT may be requested via www.lsac.org or by phone at 215.968.1001.
In
addition to possessing a bachelor's degree and results
from the Law School Admission Test, the following
items,
in addition to a completed application, are required:
- Two letters of recommendation;
- A personal statement
of not more than three typewritten, double-spaced
pages;
- An application fee of $60.
- Please note, applicants
to Notre Dame Law School are required to apply using
the LSAC
online application.
