Fee Waiver Request
Applicants to Notre Dame whose financial resources are
severely limited may request a fee waiver from the Law
School Admissions Council (LSAC). LSAC, in addition
to granting fee waivers to applicants who are determined
to be financially needy, also grants select candidates
waivers for the Law School Data Assembly Service and
for test preparation materials offered by LSAC. Notre
Dame will grant a fee waiver to any candidate who has
been granted a fee waiver by LSAC.
An applicant for admission to the Notre Dame Law School
who does not obtain a fee waiver from LSAC may request
a fee waiver directly from the Law School. Such a request
should include a statement of up to 250 words that describes
the applicant's personal (and/or family) financial circumstances.
As the number of fee waivers granted is limited to
applicants whose resources are very limited, applicants
are encouraged to provide supporting documentation and/or
as much detail as possible.
The statement requesting a fee waiver may be forwarded
to the Office of Admissions via U.S. Mail, fax, or email.
A decision regarding the fee waiver typically is made
within ten business days of the request being received
by the Admissions Office.

Deferral Requests
The Law School Admissions Committee provides an option
for select candidates to defer their admission to the
Law School by one academic year. The Committee's policy
is to review such requests on a case-by-case basis.
Typically, deferrals are granted to candidates who encounter
unforeseen opportunities or circumstances.
Admitted candidates who wish to have admission deferred
should submit a written request outlining the reason(s)
for the request and submit this to the Admissions Office
in care of the director of admission. In most instances,
the Admissions Committee will respond with a decision
within three weeks of receiving the deferral request.
Should the Committee grant the request, the admitted
candidate has the assurance that a seat is being reserved
for the following academic year and she or he is exempted
from the burden of submitting all the paperwork that
is required of the first-time applicant.
A deferred candidate is required to pay a $400 deferral-confirmation
fee in order to reserve a seat in the next year's entering
class. This deferral fee is in addition to the initial
enrollment deposit fee of $400. Both fees are non refundable
but will be applied to tuition. Additionally, deferred
candidates are required to report to the Law School
any significant changes to their academic and criminal
record, as initially reported on page three of the Notre
Dame Law School application. In the event such changes
are negative and significant, the Law School reserves
the right to revoke a deferred candidate's offer of
admission.
