Admission
to the LLM Program in International and Comparative Law is
limited to persons who have received
a degree in law from a recognized law school, and whose academic
performance in law school shows ability
and promise for further legal studies. Admission to the program
is competitive, as there are always more
applicants than positions available.
To be considered for admission to the program, an applicant
must:
- complete the
application form;
- submit a nonrefundable
application fee of $60 (in
U.S. Dollars);
- furnish an official record of prior law school performance
(authenticated transcripts); **
- write a personal statement, including the reasons for
wanting to participate in the London LL.M. Programme;
- provide at least two recent letters of recommendation
from individuals familiar with the applicant's scholarly
abilities.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early
in the admissions process. Applications may be
submitted as early as October 1, but no later than April
1. Qualified students are admitted on a rolling basis as
application files are completed. The Admissions Committee
may in its discretion decline to review any
application that is not completed by May 1.
All classes are conducted in English. Therefore, students
must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and listening
to English. Students from non-English-speaking countries must
take the Test
of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and
should see that copies of the test results are forwarded
to to the LSAC LLM
Credential Assembly Service.
**International applicants to the LLM Program must register
with LSAC's LLM Credential
Assembly Service. As a subscriber
to this service, LSAC will collect, authenticate, and distribute
the
applicant's university records (and TOEFL score(s)—if
required) to five law schools. Additional information
about this service is available at www.LLM.LSAC.org.
The fee for this service is $185 (US).
