  • Christine Venter

    Christine Venter is the Director of the Legal Writing Program. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Cape Town and her law degree from the University of Cape Town School of Law, where she was Editor of the Law Review. She also holds an LL.M in International Law and Human Rights (summa cum laude) from Notre Dame Law School and a J.S.D., also from NDLS. Professor Venter has worked for a South African firm specializing in civil rights litigation, and has done legal aid work in the US. She is a member of the Legal Writing Institute and is an Editor of The Journal of the Legal Writing Institute. Professor Venter teaches Legal Writing I and Legal Research and Writing II to first year students.

    Professor Bowers joined Notre Dame’s legal writing program in 2006 as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. She earned her B.A. with honors from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1992 and her J.D. from George Washington University in 1996. After law school she worked for legal service organizations representing abused women in their family law matters. She also spent two years as a Visiting Associate Professor of Clinical Law at George Washington University. While there she directed the Outside Placement Program and taught a seminar entitled “Public Interest Lawyering.” She teaches Legal Writing I and Legal Research and Writing II to first year students.

  • Leslie Callahan

    Leslie D. Callahan joined the legal writing program in 2005. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1986, and her A.B., cum laude, from Bryn Mawr College in 1983.

    Prof. Callahan has practiced law for more than fifteen years, as a litigator with Morrison & Foerster in New York, as an-house attorney with AT&T, and as general counsel for a state university research foundation. She also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Orinda D. Evans, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia. Most recently, she practiced in the area of municipal finance and economic development with Baker & Daniels in South Bend.


  • Erin Cole

    Erin Cole joined the legal writing program in 2006. She earned a B.A. in
    English and Philosophy, summa cum laude, from Seattle University in 1997. In
    2000, she received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School, where
    she was a managing editor of the Notre Dame Law Review.

    After graduating from NDLS, Professor Cole worked for two years as a litigation
    associate at Winston & Strawn in Chicago. In 2002, she began clerking in the
    United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, first for
    the Honorable Theresa L. Springmann and then for the Honorable Paul R. Cherry.
    Prior to joining the NDLS faculty, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable
    John L. Coffey of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
    Professor Cole currently teaches Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy to first
    year students.

  • Amy Griffin

    Professor Griffin joined Notre Dame in 2005 as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. She earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Boston College in 1990. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall School of Law) in 1993. After graduating from Boalt, she worked as an associate for Otten, Johnson, a Denver firm, where her practice focused on commercial litigation. Professor Griffin currently teaches Legal Writing I and Legal Research and Writing II to first year students.

    Professor Moo is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, teaching Legal Writing I and Legal Research and Writing II to first-year students. She earned her J.D. degree, with highest distinction, from George Mason University School of Law in 1987, graduating first in her class; and an A.B. degree, with honors, from Indiana University-Bloomington, in 1974, majoring in English. Prior to joining Notre Dame in 2005, Professor Moo was a partner with Barnes & Thornburg, where she handled business transactions for closely-held companies, including business entity formation, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. Serving as co-chair of the Drafting Subcommittee of the Indiana State Bar Association Task Force on Indiana Limited Liability Company Legislation in 1991-92, she was one of the principal drafters of the 1992 Indiana Business Flexibility Act.
