The
Asian Law Students Association at the University of Notre Dame
Law School comprises of 40 general members from the law school
student body who meet on a monthly basis. The purposes of our
organization include:
1. Cultivating a supportive Asian/Asian-Pacific American community at
the law school;
2. Articulating and endorsing the needs of Asian/Asian-Pacific
American students;
3. Nurturing the professional development of Asian/Asian-Pacific
American students;
4. Inspiring the legal community to revolutionize the legal system in
order to meet the goals of the Asian/Asian-Pacific American community.
With the help of our elected officers, ALSA strives to be an academic,
social and political resource for the Asian/Asian-Pacific American students.
We are a member of the National Asian Pacific American Law Students
Association and enjoy a relationship with the Asian American Bar Association
of the Greater Chicago Area. For the past few years, we have volunteered our
services at an immigration legal aid clinic in Chicago and hope to extend
our services to clinics in our own backyard. This coming year also promises
to bring the founding of an Outline Bank, Coffee & Dessert Hour before
class selection, a "Tour of Asian Restaurants" in the South Bend
area, and a Bowling Night. Vice President Mike has even suggested
considering a "Movie & Sake" Night!
ALSA emphasizes the importance of diversity and promotes recruitment of
Asian Americans from all parts of the country. Each year, we work closely
with the Admissions Office to ensure that Asian/ Asian-Pacific Americans
continue to be a visible and active presence throughout the Law School. In
sum, we endeavor to strengthen the voice of our members both in the Law
School and in the law.
Membership is open to all currently-enrolled students of the Notre Dame
Law School.
