The Notre Dame Industrial Assessment Center

Helping area manufacturers

The University of Notre Dame, with the financial assistance of the United States Department of Energy, has established an Industrial Assessment Center to serve small and mid-sized manufacturers within an approximate 150 mile radius of the University. The purpose of the Notre Dame Industrial Assessment Center is to assist manufacturers to identify and apply technology to reduce energy consumption and minimize wastes, thereby lowering costs and increasing productivity.

The Notre Dame IAC saves firms an average of $35,000 per year

A team of Notre Dame engineering students, under the immediate supervision of a faculty member, visits plants, analyzes process operations and energy use, and provides energy and waste management information and technical assistance. The overall effect will be not only an improvement in energy use and a reduction in waste, but also a reduction in cost and a higher productivity. Higher productivity will result in a stronger climate for economic development in the region.
