Freimann Life Science Center Guidelines and Policies for Responsible Animal Research

Responsible animal care and use is not only a regulatory requirement, it is an ethical imperitive. The policies and guidelines outlined in this manual are meant to serve as a general information source for investigators, students, and others using vertebrate animals in teaching and research. In this regard, it is worthwhile for this manual to be made available to those using animals in these activities. It is the obligation and responsibility of the investigator to ensure that all personnel working within his or her laboratory are adequately trained to promote safe and humane animal use.
