The IACUC has adopted a Policy on the Frequency of Blood Sampling in Rodents as of October 2009 to clarify appropriate and humane parameters for blood sampling in rodents. There has been confusion in the past on the volumes and sites for serial sampling in rodents. This Policy is made available to researchers so that they can make blood sampling frequency decisions when writing an animal protocol. The guidelines will also standardize the decisions of the IACUC in allowing repeated or serial sampling from various routes. The SOP is available on the IACUC Policy page as a Word document (.doc) or an Adobe Acrobat file (pdf.).
