Department Vision
The
Department will respond in a timely manner to all requests for emergency
assistance within it's jurisdiction and provide either fire suppression
or emergency medical services insofar as our capabilities and staffing
allow.
The Department will investigate all fires for cause and origin and provide written reports and documentation of findings to appropriate University officials. The Department will investigate all complaints related to fire hazards or life safety issues and take all necessary measure to correct deficiencies.
The Department will maintain, in fully operational status, all campus fire protection systems and central alarm reporting station. Continual inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs shall be performed on all detection and fire suppression systems to insure proper performance.
The Department will inspect all campus buildings and other University property as necessary to insure compliance with all applicable building codes, fire codes and life safety codes. Remedial recommendations will be made to appropriate authorities within the University. It is our goal to promote responsibility and awareness relative to fire prevention and fire safety through out the entire University.
The Department will provide the safest working environment possible for all of it's employees through compliance with the National Fire Protection Association standards and the Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations. Firefighters shall be provided with all necessary equipment and protective clothing to safely perform their prescribed duties. To further insure safety awareness and competence of our employees, continuing education and training in all facets of emergency response shall be provided on a regular basis.
