Brian Boyd, a junior at Notre Dame, is in Rome this semester to study at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (commonly called the Angelicum). A double major in Philosophy and the Program of Liberal Studies with a minor in Philosophy in the Catholic Tradition, Brian is in Rome to appreciate firsthand the achievements of classical and Catholic culture in addition to learning about them in the classroom. This is not to imply that all our accomplishments lie behind us, however. Brian is living in a faith community with fellow Catholics - half of whom are seminarians - from four different American colleges. In between prayer and pizza, Brian hopes to learn not only about the Church's past but also how he and the rest of the "JPII Generation" may contribute to its future.
These journal entries are his attempt to convey the particulars of his experiences and discover and share the broader truths to which they lead. Whether you are enlightened or incensed by what he has to say, Brian welcomes responses, which may be directed to bboyd@nd.edu.
