Welcome to the Design Automation Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame. The lab was established in 1992 by Dr. John E. Renaud as a part of a research effort in Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering to develop strategies for the design of large scale systems. Since then the research activities have been diversified to include such areas as Rapid Prototyping, CAD/CAM, Plastic snap design tool development, Uncertainty in Design and Decision Based Design. Most recent research efforts include Multiscale Material Modeling, Automobile Crashworthiness, and Bone Remodeling.

For more information on current projects, see our research page.
