Frequently Asked Hockey Camp Questions |
Will I receive a camp confirmation?
Yes! You will receive written confirmation through a camp confirmation packet being mailed to the camper's address marked on the registration form shortly after we receive your application and payment. This confirmation packet will confirm the camper's enrollment in the camp along with details of where to check-in, what to bring, etc.
What if I need to cancel my registration?
If an accepted application is withdrawn for any reason up to 8 days prior to the start of the camp session, you will receive a refund less a cancellation fee ($75 for each Skills Development Session, $30 for the Day Camp). No refunds will be issued within 1 week of a camp session's start date.
Do you offer transportation to and/or from camp?
Campers are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from campus. Campers will not be picked up/dropped off at the airport or train station.
Where do campers eat during camp?
All camps will dine in the North Dining Hall on Notre Dame's campus. They offer a variety of menu items in a buffet style with unlimited helpings.
What is the supervision during camp?
Counselors/Coaches will be staying in the residence halls along with the campers. A 10:30pm lights-out is strictly enforced each night when room-check is conducted. The hockey staff will also take a roll call several times throughout the day, in addition to walking the campers to all locations across campus.
What if my camper needs to leave camp early?
We prefer that campers not leave campus during their camp experience. Should a camper have to leave the camp for any reason, parents and/or legal guardian must notify the camp director to complete a consent form.
Can campers request their roommate?
Resident campers (boarders) stay in one of the assigned Notre Dame residence halls with separate buildings for boys and girls. A roommate request form will be included in the confirmation packet, which can be completed and returned to the summer camp office. Please keep in mind that we do our best to meet all roommate requests, however due to accomodation limitations we cannot always meet every request, and we will be under no obligation to honor requests received less than seven days prior to the start of camp. The majority of our dorm rooms are doubles, but campers could be placed in singles, triples, or quads, depending on the dorm in which the camp is residing. We do not accept requests for triples or quads. If no preference is indicated, the camp staff will assign a roommate similar in age. Roommates must request each other to be accomodated with roommate request forms returned no later than one week prior to the start of the camp session.
What is the prescence of trainers/medical staff?
There will be athletic trainers on site during all instruction, practices, and games. Should the need arise, there will also be access to the athletic training room, campus health center, EMTs, and local hospitals. With this in mind, please accurately complete the Camper's Health Form section of the application so the camp staff can have important medical information on hand.
Can the camp staff hold a camper's medication?
Campers taking medicine must be responsible for their own medication. If your child cannot self-medicate, a parent or legal guardian must be available to administer medication during camp. If you decide that your child can self medicate, please make arrangements to remind your child to take their medication. Camp counselors and athletic trainers are not allowed to hold or dispense medication, and will not be responsible for reminding your child to take their medication. Additionally, the campus health center will not hold or dispense medication.
What if my camper is injured during camp?
In case of an emergency, the University will contact the parent immediately. If the parent/guardian cannot be reached, the University has authorization for emergency medical care granted from the Camper's Health Form. If the medical staff determines that a camper is unable to participate in activities, parents/guardians must make arrangements to have their camper return home.
Does my camper need additional money during camp?
There is a camp store for campers who desire additional snacks and drinks. Pizza orders will also be taken for pizzas delivered after the evening session. Merchandise will also be available at the camp store.
What items should my camper bring for the dorm?
All boarders will need to bring their own bed linens (extra long twin sheets), blankets, pillow, towels, and toiletry items. It is also suggested to bring sunscreen and mosquito repellant.
Are residence halls air-conditioned?
All the residence halls where summer camps will be staying are not air-conditioned. We strongly suggest that campers bring small portable fans for their rooms.
Are early arrivals accepted?
Early arrivals will not be accepted for any of the hockey camp sessions.
