Diving Camp (June 28-July 2, 2009)
The University of Notre Dame Rolfs Aquatic Center is one of the finest aquatic facilities in the region. The Aquatic Center features a diving well with three 1-meter springboards and two 3-meter springboards. Training will occur on land as well as in the water. Proper instruction and supervision will be given in the use of mats, a trampoline, a dry-land springboard with overhead spotting equipment, a port-a-pit, and in-water, 1-meter, overhead spotting belts.

U.S. Diving or AAU Diving Membership:
To attend Diving Camp at the University of Notre Dame, it will be necessary for you to be a member of either United States Diving or have an AAU Diving membership. If you are currently an active member of U.S. Diving or AAU Diving, please include your membership number on the application. If you are not currently a member, you will need to register on the United States Diving, Inc. website (http://www.usadiving.org). On the U.S. Diving site, choose "Membership" then click on "Join USA Diving" followed by choosing "Limited Athlete Membership". After registering, you will be able to print off a copy of your membership form. Please either mail a copy of this membership form to the Notre Dame Diving Camp or bring it to registration. Campers will not be allowed to participate in camp without completion of this document!
Caiming Xie, Head Coach
Four time BIG EAST Diving Coach of the Year (1999, 2004, 2005, 2006), Caiming Xie has completed his fourteenth year as the Notre Dame men's and women's head diving coach after spending three seasons as the head diving coach at the University of Toldeo. Caiming is the first full-time diving coach in Notre Dame history. Caiming built off the success of the Notre Dame Diving program and coached two All-American divers, Heather Mattingly and Meghan Perry-Eaton. Meghan Perry-Eaton, five time BIG EAST title winner and three time BIG EAST Diver of the Year (2003, 2004, 2005), also placed 3rd in 2004 and 5th in the 2005 NCAA Championships, the highest-ever NCAA finish in Notre Dame diving history. The men's diving program took a big step forward in 2006 as they had their first ever diver compete at the NCAA Championships and finish 18th in the nation.
While at Toledo, Caiming earned Mid-American Conference Diving Coach of the Year laurels each of his last two seasons. Prior to his stint with the Rockets, Caiming, as assistant coach, coached one season for the perennial BIG EAST power, Pittsburgh.
Caiming, who served as the 1980 Chinese Olympic Diving Coach, comes to the Notre Dame program with a wealth of international experience. He served as the US Diving Technical Consultant and is a member of the US Diving Techniscience Committee. Caiming has attended the US Diving National Team Training Camp many times. Caiming also holds diving clinics and presentations to US Diving Junior and Senior Coaches.
As the Chinese national coach, Caiming tutored Sun Shu-Wei, a gold medalist in the men's platform competition at the 25th Summer Olympiad in Barcelona, Spain, and Zhu Jin-Hong who finished fourth in the women's platform. Caiming's divers You Jianli, Lu Wei, Gui Ying and Liu Ben also have earned medals at the Asian Games, World Cup, World University Games and World Championships. Caiming served in this role for more than 10 years.
As an athlete, Caiming won first place in the springboard competition at the seventh Asian Games in 1974. He earned first place in the platform and second in the springboard competition at the third National Games of China in 1975 and has won numerous Chinese diving championships.
