Svete Named Director of Career Development

Lee Svete, Notre Dame's Director of Career Services, is the College's new Director of Career Development. He is responsible for the overall MBA career development strategy and operation, which includes the MBA and Executive MBA programs as well as the Masters in Accountancy program. Svete will continue as ND's Career Center Director, and is integrating the University's and the College's placement teams.

"The innovations that Lee and his team have developed include City Tours, an aggressive job lead generation program (focused on small, mid-sized growth firms), and leveraging the joint power of career services programs at top universities around the country," said Associate Dean Joe Urbany. "Lee's team has also been instrumental in the ND NetWorks initiatives (see this article), which builds relationships with alumni in targeted cities and high-growth industries."

Since arriving at Notre Dame in July 1999, Svete and his staff at the Notre Dame Career Center improved the number and prestige of student placements across the university, both in internships and jobs. This year, he was the first recipient of the newly-established College of Arts and Letters Award of Appreciation. The award honors "an outstanding colleague outside the college whose work adds immeasurably to the college and enriches its life." Before coming to Notre Dame, Svete was Director of Career Services at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y.
