1,000 "Hits" per Month for ND Business Magazine Web Site

Notre Dame Business magazine's new web site has received 1,000 hits per month since it went "live" November 20. "The magazine's first attempt to direct readers to supplemental 'web only' articles and on-line networking opportunities for alumni has been a huge success," said Dean Woo. "We are encouraged by the initial response, and will explore creative ways to use the web to serve our alumni readers."

Issue five's (fall 2000) cover article on alumni in high-tech industries (First Mover Advantage: Meet Notre Dame's High-Tech Entrepreneurs), directs readers to the web where they can access a list of more than 75 additional alumni in high-tech fields. The high-tech industry list alone has received more than 500 "hits" since the issue went on-line in November. The list is interactive in several ways:

  • alumni are encouraged to add their own names - as well as names of fellow alumni - to the list
  • alumni can contact each other directly via email "hot link"
  • readers can find out more about each high-tech company via "hot link" to the company's web site

One of the most popular interactive features of the ND Business web site are the email "hot links" in the Class Notes section. "We list email addresses in the printed version of the magazine. But the email 'hot links' on the web allow alumni to contact each other instantly," said Katie Anthony ('85, MBA '96), director of MBA alumni relations.

The ND Business web site offers readers the option to request a "free issue" of the printed magazine by submitting a request electronically. "Six months after the magazine went online, we continue to receive 'free issue' requests nearly every day," said Marita Hoffman Connor (MBA '98), director of MBA alumni events. "Because many of the 'free issue' requests come from prospective MBA and Executive MBA students who are not Mendoza College or ND alumni, we know the magazine is attracting a broad audience."

"Alumni have told us that they prefer submitting Class Notes and photos online," said Connor. To submit Class Notes online, please click here. Deadline for submitting Class Notes for the next issue of Notre Dame Business is June 29, 2001.
