EDG at the University of Notre Dame

Welcome to the Evolutionary Discussion Group (EDG)!!

Our format is to read and discuss scientific papers on the cutting-EDGe of evolutionary biology. These meetings serve to strengthen ties between researchers at the University of Notre Dame who share a common interest in evolution with the hope these interactions will lead to fruitful collaborations. Currently our group draws researchers from Biological Sciences, Anthropology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and the History and Philosophy of Science.

Importantly, these meetings also serve as a good venue for presenting our own research if the desire to do so comes up. These meetings are intended to complement other aspects of academia and represent an open forum for the exchange of ideas.

Suggestions for which paper to read come directly from the group. The person making the suggestion tends to lead the discussion for that particular paper. The atmosphere of these meetings is very, very informal.

All students, postdocs, technicians, and faculty interested in Evolutionary Biology are welcome to attend (for more information and to join the e-mail list, please contact Hope Hollocher).
