Varsity Band

Over 200 students make up the Varsity (Pep) Bands at Notre Dame. The bands perform for men's and women's basketball and select other athletic events throughout the year.

Students are selected from current marching band members, and when possible other students. Selections are made based on seniority, service to band and instrumentation needs.

Varsity Band members also travel to conference post-season tournaments such as the Men's Big East Basketball Championship at Madison Square Garden; the Women's Big East Basketball Championship held every year in Hartford, Connecticut.

We've also had the opportunity to travel to many locations around the country for the NCAA and NIT tournaments. Recently, national tournament travel has taken band members to Denver, CO; Anaheim, CA; and many other cities across the United States. In 2001, members of the band were on hand in St. Louis as Notre Dame captured the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship!
