

Numbering between 20 and 30 musicians, the Brass Ensemble provides an additional opportunity for students to participate in ensemble music at Notre Dame. The Brass Ensemble explores a wide range of musical genres including Renaissance, Baroque, 20th Century composition, and orchestral transcriptions. In addition to concert performances the Brass Ensemble provides music for the Opening of the School Year Mass at the beginning of each academic year.
Students wishing to participate in the Brass Ensemble should attend the first rehearsal on Wednesday of the first week of classes in each semester. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday at 12:50 p.m. in the Main Rehearsal Hall of the Band Building. For more information, contact Emmett O’Leary.
Flute ChoirFlute choir can be taken for university credit during the spring semester. It meets once a week and provides an opportunity to develop basic flute playing techniques in an ensemble environment as well as gain experience playing more unique instruments like the alto and bass flutes. Notre Dame is proud to have one of the largest Clarinet Choirs in the nation. Having a membership of over 45 members the group is a great place for all clarinet players in the Notre Dame community to perform. The group meets Wednesday evenings and can be taken for university credit. The group is directed by Alison Thigpen .
Notre Dame is proud to present its very own double reed ensemble. Any oboe
or bassoon in the Notre Dame Community can join the double reed ensemble, which

Trumpet choir meets weekly during the spring semester. The group plays transcription, arrangements and original works written for trumpet ensemble. It is conducted by Matt Merten and can be taken for university credit.
Horn ChoirThe spring 2007 was the inaugural year for the Notre Dame Horn Choir. Under the direction of Emmett O'Leary, the ensemble performs arrangements and original works for horn ensemble. The group is open to all Notre Dame, Saint Mary's and Holy Cross students, faculty and staff and rehearses Wednesday evenings. For more information please contact Emmett O'Leary.

Trombone Choir meets weekly during the spring semester. The group plays a wide variety of literature including classical modern and jazz. Trombone Choir is directed by Matt Merten and may be taken for Univeristy Credit.

The Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble meets weekly during the spring semester. The groups play a wide variety of music including: jazz, gospel, classical, and contemporary. Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble is open to all Notre Dame, Holy Cross College and Saint Marys students as well as faculty and staff members of those schools. The groups are directed by Emmett O'Leary.
Percussion EnsembleNotre Dame is proud to offer percussion ensemble in both the fall and spring semesters. There is no audition for percussion ensemble, but interested students should have percussion experience. Interested students are divided up into groups of 4 to 6 players, performing one concert in the fall and one in the spring. Literature for each group is based upon the strengths of the players. Course credit is available for percussion ensemble. Rehearsals are scheduled for one hour per week, depending on the availability of ensemble members. For more information, please contact Sam Sanchez.
