The Nanovic Institute for European Studies offers a grant of $8,000 to support the visit of a prominent European speaker to the Notre Dame campus. The Nanovic Distinguished European Lecturer is expected to give one public lecture and lead at least one student seminar. A possible prominent speaker might be a well-known writer, artist, musician, public personality, or academic, particularly someone who might attract interest from across the University.
The Institute welcomes proposals from any department with faculty working in fields relevant to contemporary European studies. No department may receive the award two years in a row. The grant is intended to pay for travel, accommodations, and/or an honorarium for the speaker. One grant will be awarded in each academic year.
The Nanovic Institute will work closely with the hosting department to plan and organize this campus visit.
Deadline for the submission of proposals for the following academic year:
March 19, 2008
Applications should include:
- Cover letter describing the speaker to be invited;
- CV or bio of the potential speaker;
- Outline of events planned for the speaker;
- Budget of expected expenses.
