The Collier Lodge Project

The Collier Lodge project was a cooperative project with the Kankakee Valley Historical Society .

We worked at the Collier Lodge Site, a historic hunting lodge on the Kankakee River with the official Indiana State Site Number of 12 Pr 36 from 2003 through 2011.. The site has a Removal Period occupation and prehistoric occupations as well.

If you are intersted in the history of what we have done at the site, you can download copies of the most recent excavation plan. Each excavation plan always begins with a summary of what was accomplished in the preceding year.

The archaeological site at Collier Lodge is now on the National Register of Historic Places!

For a complete overview of everything that has been done at the site through the years, and an explanation of why the site is so important, you can read the nomination (PDF) to the National Register of Historic Places that was approved by the National Park Service on December 24, 2009.

Reports describing all seasons except the last one in 2012 are now available.

You will need Adobe Reader to view the files. If you don't have it, it available for free from Adobe.
