 The Sea Map of Andrea Benincasa, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Borgiano VIII Seeing as this map was meant for Mediterranean use, the depiction of the British Isles (particularly the northern extremes) seems to be more guesswork than cartography. It is, in fact, modelled on Ptolemaic maps.
