Executive Summary
1. Abstract
1.1 Project Description
The goal of this project was to design a football-playing robot that could eventually be used in a robotic-football competition. Bad New Bots created a robot that mimics the running-back position on a football team. The designed robot has the ability to move autonomously down a football field and avoid peg defenders in its path. Once the robot successfully avoids tackles by the peg defenders, it will move on its way to scoring a touchdown.
1.2 Primary Outcomes
The key technical issues faced when developing the concept included providing vision for the robot, sensing the tackling of the robot, directing the robot to the end zone and accurately controlling the motion of the robot. The product feasibility is demonstrated by the creation of a fully functioning prototype running-back robot.
