Project Opportunity:

 

A group of ND alums have proposed the

development of an intercollegiate robotic “football” competition to encourage interest in science and engineering. As a first step in the process of exploring the feasibility of such a competition, the design teams will develop a robot-based “game” with elements similar to “American football” (note: there exist various types of robo-soccer competitions around the world so this game would need to be substantially different from soccer and contain basic elements characteristic of “American football.”) The team will need to develop the rules of the “game” and then design robot/s to demonstrate the fundamental features of the competition and validate the basic technologies necessary to “play” game.
