Project Abstract:

Bangarang Musical Engineering was tasked to design an innovative musical instrument. The group conceptualized a device that would play music and also benefit disabled patients through motor skill rehabilitation. The final product will consist of a mechanical drum set actuated through finger tip pressure sensors with the ability to play prerecorded beats and to record sequences played by the user.
The technical issues faced when developing the concept included generating variable volumes, interfacing the finger operation with the drum stick actuation, and minimizing the system’s response time. The product feasibility is demonstrated by the creation of a fully functional prototype.
