Critical Design Review

The goal of the CDR was to provide management with sufficient cause to continue the design process into the preliminary design phase.  In order to do so, the key issues associated with our concept were identified, as was the progress made in exploring its feasibility.  The prototype’s first performance requirement of dispensing goods within 10% error was accomplished, with a fill time of 5.25 seconds.  Lids were dispensed and completely sealed on the container 85% of the time, which fell just short of the 90% requirement.  This shortcoming stemmed from lid dispenser misalignment due to vibrations from the stamping mechanism, which can be solved with support structure.  The performance of the prototype confirmed that the product’s design requirements can be met.
