McGlinn Traditions
Togas at Pep Rallys:
At special pep rallys throughout the year, the Shamrocks show their style by wearing awesome green togas. Each resident is given green fabric to turn into her own personalized toga. The McG women then walk to the pep rallies together while chanting dorm songs and ND cheers. It is the perfect way to get into the spirit of the football weekends and show off a little McGlinn Hall pride!
Dorm chants and songs:
McGlinn has its very own set of dorm chants, songs, and cheers which showcase the sense of spectacular dorm pride at all pep rallys and interhall competitions. Our Shamrock presence is truly felt at these events! "Who, who, who are we? Mc, Mc, Mc, McG!"
Casino Night:
Casino Night is McGlinn Hall's faboulous signature event held at South Dining Hall. It is a night of fun "casino-style" games with play money that is counted for a chance to win awesome prizes! There is even a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament with a prize for the big winner. Each year, the signature event gets bigger and better with more prizes and more attendees! All of the proceeds from the event are donated by the Shamrocks towards it charity, the Women's Care Center in South Bend. The week before Casino Night is "Spirit Week" in McGlinn!
Service:
The women of McGlinn Hall perform countless acts of service for the people of South Bend and people of all of the world! Currently, McGlinn women tutor at St. Adalbert's in the community and helped to raise money for the parish at the dorm concession stand before a football game!
Study Breaks:
During finals week, students often feel stressed about the amount of studying they have to complete to perform well on their exams. McGlinn Hall does its best to ease the stress with study breaks each day of finals week by offering breaks for the women of the hall. Examples of some study breaks in the 2008-2009 school year were ice cream, pizza, breadsticks, and a breakfast one morning! The Shamrocks enjoy the breaks and the few minutes they have to relax with their hallmates.
