What is this section about?
Random numbers use two important concepts in modern mathematics: statistics and probability.

Prerequisites:

  • A basic understanding of statistics and probability.
  • Knowledge of simple programming, recursive definitions, and modular arithmetic.

Objectives:

  • To examine random numbers and understand how a simple random number generator works
  • To understand the difference between random and pseudorandom numbers
  • To experiment and test different types of random number generators to understand the limitations of random number generators
  • To recognize the programming steps in constructing a random number generator.
