Begin your integrated approach with ethics:

Conceptual Foundations of Business Ethics: This course presents the fundamentals of ethics addressing a variety of different and historical points of view on how you determine what is right and what is wrong. We engage you to reflect on your own personal values and boundaries and the scope of your personal and professional responsibilities. You’ll apply this framework for thought in all your courses. Worth one and a half credit hours.

Use unbounded thinking, using a knowledge from many areas, to solve problems:

Strategic Decision Making: Good problem solvers integrate across areas. You’ll take this cross-disciplinary strategy course in the first year of the curriculum (earlier than other schools), so that you’ll learn frameworks to help you think strategically about problems before you take electives.

Problem-Solving: Taught by a former McKinsey consultant, this course helps you learn to think broadly in an integrated way to solve strategic, tactical and operational problems, and gives you practice in applying your new-found skills.

Real-life training ground, real-world issues
Corporate Cases: Multinational corporations come to Notre Dame to give you practice on problem solving. You’ll partner with and receive feedback from clients such as Boeing, McKinsey & Co., IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Accenture as you help them solve their current problems and map out possibilities for their future. Is there a market for their new business? What should be their planning and implementation process? These group projects will be graded by a combination of the company practitioner and the professor. Take this course during interim week, in four days.
