CURRICULUM

We deliver the ability to solve the toughest problems of business

All great business leaders must discover and implement solutions that overcome their organization’s challenges. Many times, these leaders emerge from the ranks, often because they are the ones who can work out pragmatic solutions to problems, overcome challenges and get things done.

Our curriculum is built to prepare this kind of problem-solving leader—one with an integrated mind, broad perspective, heart and tenacity.

An Integrated Mind

  • Develop habits of strategic, tactical and operational thinking early in the program so you can apply them to coursework
  • Learn from the best at Notre Dame, including leading academics and top-level industry consultants
  • Think across discipline boundaries because few tough business problems exist in a silo
  • Absorb frameworks and tools through signature courses in Problem-Solving and Innovation to diagnose problems, understand the critical, diverse business issues, and frame solutions recognizing implementation needs and impending obstacles
  • Learn your strengths and weaknesses through personal leadership assessments

Broad Perspective

  • Engage leaders worldwide to broaden your understanding of the complexities of business
  • Explore problems and opportunities in our communities, our organizations and in global business
  • Immerse yourself in the business culture and trends in international markets

Heart

  • Develop an awareness of your core values and how these values guide solutions to problems
  • Explore the ethical implications of business (four required credit hours of ethics)
  • Strengthen your communities by sharing your new problem-solving skills and fostering entrepreneurship with businesspeople eager for our help in Jamaica, Mexico, Africa and here in the Midwest

Tenacity

  • Bring solutions to life by becoming a more accomplished communicator, motivator and mobilizer
  • Practice your newfound problem-solving skills during Inter-term week’s “live cases”
  • Shape business strategy for organizations such as GE, Hewlett-Packard and OfficeMax
  • Lead aspects of the many extra-curricular clubs and organizations in the program
